How much does architectural rendering cost?

Price ranges per image, what floor plans, tours and films cost, what pushes a quote up or down, and five questions that tell you whether a quote is fair.

3D exterior rendering of a timber and stone house in the forest at dusk

Short answer: in 2026, a professional exterior rendering of a new development usually costs between about US$ 800 and US$ 4,000 per image, and an interior between about US$ 600 and US$ 2,500. Aerial views, films and virtual tours cost more. The range is wide because "a rendering" can mean very different amounts of work, so this guide explains what sits behind the number.

Typical price ranges per image

These ranges come from price lists that studios published in 2025 and 2026. They are per finished image, with art direction and a set number of revisions included.

RenderingEstablished studiosICÔNICO starts at
Interior (model unit, lobby, amenity)US$ 600 – 2,500US$ 650
Exterior (facade, street, amenity)US$ 800 – 4,000US$ 850
Aerial (the whole site and its context)US$ 1,000 – 3,000US$ 1,500

Freelancers on marketplaces often quote less for a single image (one 2026 guide puts freelance exteriors at about US$ 300 to 1,500) and can be a good choice for a one-off view. A studio earns its price on a set: twelve images that look like the same building, under the same light, delivered on the same date.

What moves the price

  • Size and detail of the scene. A bedroom costs less than a clubhouse with a pool, landscaping, furniture and people.
  • How complete the design is. Finished CAD with a finish schedule renders faster than massing and a mood board. Design changes in the middle of production are the most common source of extra cost.
  • Context. An aerial that shows the neighborhood, or a street view with the houses next door, means modeling what isn’t yours.
  • Number of images. Building the 3D scene is a fixed cost. Ten views of the same project share it, so the price per image drops with volume.
  • Revisions. Two rounds per image is common. Ask what a third round costs before you need it.
  • Deadline. Rush work usually costs more; one 2026 guide puts the premium at 20 to 50%.
  • Size of the final file. A billboard or a construction fence banner needs more resolution than a website.

Floor plans, virtual tours and films

Rendered floor plans are priced per plan. A 2D plan with furniture and finishes is the clearest way for a buyer to compare unit types; a 3D plan shows volume and works better as a feature image. Ours start at US$ 390 per plan.

360° virtual tours are priced by the number of rooms and units. A rendered tour of a full unit starts at US$ 1,900 with us, which is worth comparing with what it costs to build and furnish a model home for every plan.

Architectural animation is priced per finished minute, because every second is rendered frame by frame. A launch film usually runs 60 to 90 seconds; ours start at US$ 4,500 per minute, with social cut-downs included. When the same studio makes the stills, the film reuses the 3D scenes, which shortens production.

Why one studio quotes three times another

Two quotes for "ten exterior renderings" can describe different jobs. Before comparing numbers, check that both include the same things: modeling of the landscaping and the context, the number of revision rounds, the final resolution, the people and cars, and the deadline. A low quote that charges every revision separately often ends up as the expensive one.

The rest of the difference is art direction. A rendering that sells is not only accurate; it chooses the moment, the light and the camera that make a buyer want to be there. That is what you pay a studio for.

Five questions to ask before you sign

  1. How many revision rounds are included, and what does an extra round cost?
  2. What do you need from us to start, and what happens if the design changes during production?
  3. Do we approve the camera angles before rendering, or only see the finished image?
  4. What resolution and formats are delivered, and what use of the images does the contract allow?
  5. Is the deadline written into the contract?
